Unit 35 , task 3 , p6

Copyright Report.

The laws of copyright are as follows; Everyone is unauthorized to use any image or artistic work without the copyright holders permission, this is excused if the image has been legally modified with a licence , approved by the owner themselves. No matter if the image has been manipulated it is still the owners obsession  thus meaning the original licence of the unedited image then here applies.

Although this has been said , in some situations images can be purchased from a stock image website. This being legal because an official transaction to the owner has been made to allow you to use the image , however it is always encouraged to clarify the site is copyright free to avoid any dilemmas. If any such person tries to advertise the work then legal action will be taken , likely ending up in court and the culprit being sued. This being classed as plagerism.

Summarily, copyright issues are to be highly avoided due to the legal implications. The research i have done , has proved that copyright is a big issue in today's advanced, technology dependent world. Overall copyright is to be completely aborted due to the previous mentioned outcomes.

Unit 35 , task 1 , p2

Unit 35.Task 1. P2.

Customer one.

This graphic will need to be a vector graphic as they are scale-able , this meaning that during re-sizing they don't loose quality. Due to vectors being mainly used for lines and curves it will be beneficial as the image may need to be enlarged or the shape changed. When creating the band logo, I will use software such as Photoshop and Illustrator. With using Photoshop i will be able to adjust the image to suit preferred preferences concerning the quality rating. Photoshop is a vector file with the format being P.N.G. This file format enables additional information to be stored within the image saved, as well as preventing image data loss. With Illustrator i can edit the image and change colour palettes ,font sizes, contrast and other undesired prospects, this being done to improve the quality of the graphic in addition to making sure everything is displayed correctly and clearly. The file format for this is AL this is just an extension of a vector graphic , this can be imported into Photoshop and the different images can be combined.
Customer two.
This graphic will require me to use Illustrator as it enables the text that will be put onto the van to be eye catching, bold and non pixelated. This is important as the van's appearance and informational text will be what attracts business.Although illustrator is based upon vector graphics it will create better quality text, that will correspond with the topic. Being able to change the proportion , colour and text size , the van will appear from appealing to a possible customer. Overall it will be a bitmap and the file format will be a PDF but can then be converted to an EPS which then makes it compatible to that of an image format.
Customer three.
The graphic image for this customer will be a bitmap graphic as it will not need to be enlarged as it would be of the right size anyway. Bitmap images cannot be altered as they are made up of pixels. The software I will use to create this image will be Illustrator as it can enable more than two images to be incorporated, this can also mean text. This is desirable because it can make the image more eye catching and interesting. This graphic will be saved as a PDF because it contains both images and text although its a vector graphic.

Unit 35, task 3, p3 +m2

P3 : Annotations.

Clearly placed in the window area of the van is the company's logo ' Brick Break', i have chosen this due to it being a popular digital game that involves building bricks, thus playing on the Builders work area. The van involves a colour scheme of oranges, reds, and a range of browns , with the texture of the van being a brick like , layered visual , to then collaborate with the work area even further. To make it easier i used the fill tool to make all of the van an orange colour. This makes it visually clear what the van's appearance is portraying. To create the layered brick effect i used the shape tool and created several rectangles and filled them in different colours, grouped them together , then copied and pasted them around the van. I have chosen a Bold , black font in size 50 to contrast with the background of the van so people looking at it will remember the name. Due to this, it makes the van more attractive in appearance as it uses imagery to portray a successful, professional business.Underneath the text the logo is a three simple rectangular shape which links to the simplistic business name, therefore it will be easier to remember to a possible customer.I made the logo by again using the shape tool and manipulating the rectangle by using the transform tool to round of and smooth the edges. All other aspects of the van are normal components of a van , eg lights and indicators. I made this image in a ai. format as it enabled me to manipulate the image as its a illustrator format. The resolution isnt as good as the photoshop resolution as the brick detail doesn't need to be vivid therefore the final image will be viewed on the computer so the resolution is around 72.

The logo consists consists of a question mark and a exclamation mark,i imported and image and usedthe wand tool to trace the image and used the transform tool to change it into the style i wanted. I have done this because the band i have chosen is Panic at the disco ! The shape placement represents the exclamation mark , this draws the fans in and suggests that the band is 'now' and current in the music industry.  I have put the band's picture inside the circular point because its the main focus point being the period in the exclamation mark featured in the band name, i used a shape tool to create the circle. I used an image of a band member at the top of the question mark because its appealing to fans to see the appearance of the members. I also used a bold outline in grey to create an eye catching effect as it gives a 3D effect. The colour can also be changed to suit the bands personal opinions so its more personal to them and their devoted fans. The tools i used to create this are the fill tool to fill in the two different colours i also added another layer and copied and pasted the image on top of each other to make it stand out. Another tool i used is the line tool to go round the shape to make it smoother.  I then transferred the two images into illustrator and placed them in the places i wanted them to be. I made this image in a PSD file format as it enables the overall finished piece to have a high quality , this also means the resolution will be higher as the detail and smoothness of the image is better.

For this customer i have used a pink and orange colour range so it goes with the young child's profile. I used pleasant images to represent how good and friendly the nursery will be for the child. I have used bold texts so its easy to read and draws in attention  i have also included a time table to show when the nursery is and isn't open, this provides extra information. The information is overall simple and welcoming regarding the care of children, although colours, fonts and font size can be changed to suit the nursery's actual appearance. To sum it up , the flyer is simplistic in every way to get information across clearer. For this leaflet i simply used the template tool to create the basic format of the flyer. I then inserted the images and used the outline tool to change the colour , i then selected the image format tool and manipulated the outline of the image to different shapes. For the text i inserted a text box and changed font sizes. I made this in a publication format as it enabled me to change the layout to suit the leaflet preferences. The resolution of the image is around 70 as it will be viewed on the computer.

Unit 35 , task 1 , p1

To: The Bank
From: The Graphics Agency
Date: 05/06/13
Subject: Business Inquiry

This report is intended to inform you of the hardware and software required for a prosperous and efficacious graphics business also expressing the advisability in providing our business with a loan. The following will also consist of the price of each individual product in addition to the purchase location along with many different reflective reviews concerning this product.
To begin with, our Graphics Company will need the basic necessities such as a USB, the USB comes in many different dimensions, some based on how much they can hold. The USB is reliable due to how portable the device is, as well as its storage capacity to hold various different files. Overall a USB is needed for the portability to take files around with ease, and to store files, for example those of upcoming projects for clients of the graphic design agency. The product that is beneficial to purchase is the SanDisk flash drive which features burst write speeds up to 10MB this then reducing the time employees spend waiting for files to save. In addition with up to 64GB in storage capacity and its compact design to support portability specifications, its ability to accommodate the high-resolution photos, HD videos, scanned documents, and other data that is specific to the Graphics Industry, it is needed. The price of this product is £39.99 which is available on Amazon.

Secondly the IMac is required due to factors like the Apple’s font and colour handling and bright displays which make the Apple IMac ideal for design work. The apple IMac’s properties make its quality from screen to print impeccable; this sort of standard would be needed to start the business on good terms, and would be beneficial economically. This would be needed in our business to promise high quality work to our customers, and has long term benefits despite the cost, which is that of £1,699.

As well as the iMac, the MacBook Pro is also need; this has all the qualities of the apple iMac but can be transported as it is a laptop, software can be opened and edited on the go with the security of files being backed up on the other apple device at the workplace. This is important as meetings can be held with clients for future investments; therefore the business’s work would need to be presented wherever , whenever. With running a graphics design company the MacBook Pro offers a faster hard disk and more Ram with the quality of the device , the reliability of the MacBook including other favoring prospects, represents the reasons shown previously as to why this device is needed. This coming in at £1,249.To add to these product's reliability and productivity the Mac time machine has a built in backup  which can also work with your external drive, this will ensure that the entire Mac will be backed-up , including system files , applications , accounts , photos , email messages, preferences and documents. Due to the time machine making a copy of every file it enables employees to be sure that work is available if a possible technology device is apparent.

The Mac Magic mouse, as part of other apple input devices is a wireless mouse that enables employees to move with ease for things such as editing logos to other specific requirements, to add, in case of loss from the graphics tablets stylus, the magic mouse can be used just the same. This is also beneficial for quality of work and presentation to possible clients, including advertisements due to its smooth running. In addition, as part of apples products, software such as IPhoto, ICal and other useful software could be used on both devices. As this shows , the properties of apple's products are reliable , well -functioning and quality pieces of hardware , perfect for a upcoming design business. This product individually costing £59.

The Wacom Graphics Tablet is actually used to create the graphic designs; digital drawings are produced by drawing on the tablet with a stylus that then transfers that drawing onto a laptop or PC monitor at the same time, this creates the ease of drawing with a pencil, rather than the unfamiliarity of drawing without that. This is needed because it’s the basis of the graphics design, without the tablet and means of drawing digitally; it limits the types of designs that can be made. This is £1678 at its lowest.

For quality images , the EOS 100D Canon Camera would be ideal with its abilities to produce  'High- Quality low noise photography' , due to it being highly compacted , it is almost limitless as to where it could be taken , widening the range and ease of taking equipment to design destinations. Describing the use the canon can also automatically analyse your scene and selects the best setting which is beneficial when time is concerned, especially within business. The price of this being £450.

Obviously in Graphics design a good quality printer will be needed in this case the Canon Pixma MG5350, this can print good quality rich pictures, with all different types of ink settings for different situations, this is also a basic necessity as ideas and actually completed work will need to be printed out , depending on the customers format choice. This is £89, worth the price.

Overall, the hardware i have chosen is those of high quality and high abilities in terms of running software and other prospects. In the overall working process of a graphics design business, the Graphics Card will need to be sufficient enough to function high resolution graphics, taking this into consideration i have chosen the devices that will be able to run properly and sufficiently. To run a prosperous graphics business these are the necessary requirements, I hope that the points made in this report will highlight as to why the hardware that is desirable will be chosen, in terms of the loan that may be given.

Unit 2 Task 4 M1

Dedicated and relentless business focus i.e a project /programme business case

Persistent drive to provide clarity (hence the reasoning behind the name of my consultancy “Clarety” a play on the word “Clarity”)

Behaving with integrity

Personal energy and an ability to harness the energy of others

What do these values /behaviours actually mean:-

Dedicated and relentless business focus. This is the total focus on a project or programme’s business case. This (agreed) document should identify key system features required to achieve specific business objectives /goals along with detailed costings & business benefits of the work undertaken.

A good project manager must make sure that this information is clearly interpretated and communicated down the project /programme organisational structure to minimise the gap between what your project team believes needs to be delivered and the expectations of the business people. This focus on business need and return on capital employed is essential to control change and limit the potential for scope creep.

Persistent drive to provide clarity. This is often the most misunderstood of the values /behaviours.

It is vital to provide continuous transparency on the essential aspects of a project /programme of work from week to week, in a similar way that a car dashboard provides essential-fit-for-purpose information necessary for your safety and the car’s health. Without this steering or managing a project for success becomes impossible!!

Integrity. This can be another troublesome area with clients. Organisations where IT projects /programmes fail regularly the incumbent IT management often survive through the use of well practiced Spin Management Techniques. Project Managers with Integrity can be regarded by clients as a spanner in the works of an effective spin machine, which has seen many bonuses paid and preserved many “jobs-for-the-boys”. The fact that a healthy injection of management integrity would help make IT Project Failures less frequent, and therefore reduce the need for a spin machine is often lost on such people.

General information

Projects rely on teams working well, and good teams are built on trust. Also, stakeholders need to be able to trust the project team because, while projects are transient, the customer has to live with the outcomes for many years – long after the project team has gone.

Without integrity trust disappears, teams don’t function effectively, and time is wasted because opinions are not respected. More time is spent protecting positions than in delivering the project. All the Project Managers gravitas and respect is lost, very often for good unless that manager moves to another organisation.

Energy and an ability to harness energy in others. It is often stated that enthusiasm is a force multiplier where projects are concerned.

In other words the inner energy necessary to push the project forward is just not there. People, in my view, cannot be given this gift. They either have it, or not, and I never waste time mentoring such people. You either have the capacity to work 65 hour weeks,  work late at night and run presentations at the weekend together with family commitments or not.

I believe energy is perhaps the greatest differentiation between good and bad project managers. Good Project Managers don’t leave on time, sit back, and monitor history: they actively go out and manage the future.

All good leaders exude and create energy and enthusiasm toward achieving their objectives – and project managers need to be good leaders.

They have to be able to drive the project forward, finding creative solutions and working in partnership to release the power of the individual and the team. They have to be able to motivate people and recognize the importance of acknowledging and rewarding achievement. Determination and persistence makes things happen.

it is about the focused application of influence and determination to find the means to deliver – not finding out why things can’t be done.
